The COVID-19 pandemic has not only created a global health challenge, but also increased pressure and risk on human rights defenders, journalists, environmental, and labour rights activists. They are targeted, online and offline, for being critical of Government responses to the pandemic.
While dissenting voices are being silenced and people are struggling to sustain their livelihood, companies are given green light to carry on operation that may harm the most vulnerable communities.
In this webinar organised by FORUM-ASIA and the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre, representatives from the UN, Governments, business, media, and human rights defenders will share their thoughts and reflections on how we can work together to respond to the growing threats against civic space, and what we can do to ensure civic participation in the economic recovery plan.
