The Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA), in partnership with the Law and Society Trust (LST), Sri Lanka is pleased to launch the much anticipated South Asia Judicial Barometer Report.

The South Asia Judicial Barometer 2020 is a research report that highlights the common thread that intertwines the embroidery of South Asian migration experiences and ties the fates of migrant workers, especially their commodification.

The launch of this report is an opportunity to expand the dialogue between governments, representatives of the interests of migrant workers and civil society at the national, sub-regional, regional and international levels, and to press the urgency for a re-orientation of national, regional and international perspectives and responses on many fronts.

Organised by FORUM-ASIA and Law and Society Trust (LST), Sri Lanka, this virtual launch aims to:

  • Highlight the particular vulnerability of women migrant workers, their access to justice and the role of judiciary in South Asia in protecting the rights of migrant workers;
  • Discuss the need to re-orient national perspectives and responses, and prioritise migrant workers’ interests both during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
