The upcoming 4th UN Advocacy Training and Study Session for Asian Human Rights Defenders (UNATS) is a "Training of Trainers (TOT)" in order to increase the pool of expertise, resource persons and trainers in the region on the use of the UN human rights system. It will be held in Bangkok on 17-22 OCTOBER 2011. Completed applications must be sent by email to FA's Human Rights
Training Department at by FRIDAY 31 July 2011.
Since 2008, FA has delivered a regional-level annual training programme "UN Advocacy Training and Study Session for Asian Human Rights Defenders (UNATS)" for NGOs and defenders in the region who wish to build on their understanding of the UN human rights system as well as their capacity for effective advocacy in national, regional or international human rights work. In the fourth year of operation of UNATS, there has been an identified need to consolidate the experiences on UN advocacy gained as a result of past UNATS and to multiply beneficiaries of UNATS through capacitating Asian human rights defenders as trainers on UN human rights advocacy.
Applications for the 4th UNATS (TOT) is open to Asian human rights defenders who 1) have demonstrated active engagement in advocacy work using the UN human rights system and 2) are committed to conducting capacity development activities for national and local NGOs on UN advocacy. Alumni of previous UNATS will be given priority in participant selection.
Candidates are required to fill out the application form (annex 1) and submit it with a letter of endorsement from the head of the organization (annex 2). If applicants are not from FA member organizations, a letter of recommendation (annex 3) from one of FA's 47 members must be submitted as well. Completed applications must be sent by email to FA's Human Rights Training Department at [email protected] by FRIDAY 31 July 2011.
