In the wake of unsolved human rights violations, the UNHRC has asked Indonesia to make serious efforts to eliminate impunity and increase its protection of human rights defenders.

The Human Rights Council of the United Nations has asked Indonesia to take more serious efforts at eliminating impunity and raise the protection of human rights defenders. This urgent request is related to the solving of past gross human rights violations in Indonesia which are still facing serious impediments.

Rafendi Djamin, coordinator of Human Rights Working Group, stated that the request to eliminate impunity came up during the Universal Periodic Review at a hearing of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, held from 7-18 April.
