In response to reports from NGOs throughout the Asia region which point to an increasing number of cases of persecution and harassment of Human Rights Defenders, and as a follow-up to the Action Plan of the World Summit of Human Rights Defenders held in December 1998, Forum-Asia has initiated a regional consultation involving NGOs and the UN Special Representative on Human Rights Defenders, Ms. Hina Jilani.
