Strengthening National Human Rights Institutions

FORUM-ASIA and its member organisations are to attend the Twelfth Annual Meeting of the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions in Sydney, Australia. They also will organise a parallel event, International Human Rights Defenders Seminar.
From 24 to 27 September 2007, the Twelfth Annual Meeting of the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions will be held in Sydney, Australia. FORUM-ASIA and its member organisations will participate in this meeting.

FORUM-ASIA and the International Service for Human Rights (ISHR) will also be organising a parallel event from 24 to 28 September, where human rights defenders will be discussing issues pertaining to the role of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRI) in protecting human rights defenders at the national level. Among FORUM-ASIA’s member organisations, representatives of People’s Watch (India), Indonesia’s NGO Coalition for International Human Rights Advocacy -Human Rights Working Group, and Suara Rakyat Malaysia (SUARAM) also will be present at this seminar.
