Venue: Ashley Hotel Jakarta, Indonesia

FORUM-ASIA and the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Indonesia are organising a public dialogue on Women and Children at Risk: Struggle of Combating Violence and Discrimination in ASEAN.

There is a need to amplify the voices of people across Southeast Asia to discuss the gaps and challenges in the endeavor towards ensuring human rights and fundamental freedoms for all across ASEAN, particularly for women and children. This year is the decade anniversary of the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC), as well as the five year anniversary of the adoption of the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and the ASEAN Regional Plan of Actions on Eradication Violence Against Women and Violence Against Children. Against this backdrop, panelists will discuss ASEAN mechanisms to protect women and children, and ways forward to address the struggle of women across the region.
