Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), a FORUM-ASIA member, organised a
workshop on the implementation of  the International Covenant on
Economic,
Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) on 20 July 2009 in Lahore,
Pakistan. The participants, including civil society representatives and
economists, agreed that the government must take measures to ensure
that the covenant is enforced.

The Pakistani government ratified
the convention last year, with the date of reporting submission to the United
Nations in April 2010. The participants called upon the government to come up
with an action plan for its implementation, in partnership with civil society
organisations.
