addressed the financial crisis by issuing the statement "Financial
Crisis and Global Economic Recession: Towards a Human Rights Response"
in May 2009. It includes input and review of civil society
organisations, including FORUM-ASIA.

The
statement calls for a response to the financial
crisis and economic recession, by placing human rights norms at the
centre. It is to be presented to the UN Conference at the Highest Level
on the World Financial and Economic Crisis and its Impact on
Development, held from 1-3 June in New York, USA, as well as the
People's Hearing on the Crisis to take place on the eve of the summit.

ESCR-Net is a collaborative initiative of groups and individuals from
around the world that seeks to strengthen economic, social and cultural
rights by mutual learning, strategy sharing, developing new tools and
resources, engaging in advocacy and networking, while providing
information on the issue. FORUM-ASIA is a member of ESCR-Net.
