On 4 – 6 October 2016, the Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA) will be participating in the JASS Southeast Asia Regional Cross-Movement Dialogue, entitled ‘Bodies. Resources. Safety. Power’ in Yangon, Myanmar.
The dialogue aims to develop a deep collective understanding and analysis of the human rights context in the region, and to understand the impact of increased backlash and violence on women’s groups bodies, communities and work. Gender-specific strategies and approaches emerging from women activists on the front-lines and organizations that are supporting women human rights defenders (WHRDs) will be shared, while participants will also try to identify opportunities for co-creating regionally-responsive, country-level protection strategies for WHRDS, using a feminist and movement-building approach.
