ASEAN civil society, through the Solidarity for Asian Peoples’ Advocacies – Working Group on ASEAN (SAPA -WGA)’s engagement with ASEAN started in 2005 with the campaign for the creation of an ASEAN Charter. Ten years later, as ASEAN formulates its Post-2015 Agenda, SAPA- WGA wishes to contribute to this important process.

The Submission to the High Level Task Force (HLTF) on ASEAN Community’s Post-2015 Vision  was prepared through a series of consultations among civil society organizations, including the ASEAN Civil Society Conference/ ASEAN Peoples Forum 2015 held in Malaysia this year. A series of research, workshops, and consultations
among SAPA WGA members and partners were also conducted.

The Submission aims to reaffirm human rights as core ASEAN values and principles, and thus should be considered a main component of the ASEAN Community .
