BURMA – Seven alliances launch proposal for national reconciliation

their conference from 12-13 August in Jakarta, seven alliances working
for peace and freedom in Burma launched its Proposal for National
Reconciliation.

their conference from 12-13 August in Jakarta, seven alliances working
for peace and freedom in Burma launched its Proposal for National
Reconciliation.

The proposal was endorsed unanimously,
according to their joint communique on 13 August. It affirms their
commitment for "genuine national reconciliation, democracy and
development in Burma". It includes proposed actions such as transfer of
power to people.

The
organisations called on the present leaders of Burma to "engage in good
faith negotiations to the ends we have outlined". To read the complete
