MONGOLIA – Media report shows freedom of expression at risk

FORUM-ASIA member Globe International and other organisations issued “Media Freedom Report 2009” in May 2010. It remarks that 81 percent of journalists in Mongolia have been threatened and/or by public authorities.

FORUM-ASIA member Globe International and other organisations issued “Media Freedom Report 2009” in May 2010. It remarks that 81 percent of journalists in Mongolia have been threatened and/or by public authorities.

It has a special section for the presidential elections that took place in May 2009. The report remarks that the “Mongolian media and their journalists were strongly politically influenced and served money rather than voters”.

Other contents include information on threats against journalists, censorship, freedom of information, police action and protection of confidential sources.
