apf_pressconf.jpgThe ASEAN Peoples' Forum media committee held a press conference on 12 February 2009 in Bangkok, and presented six main issues to be discussed upon during the forum. They correspond to the main subjects of the 14th ASEAN Summit in Hua Hin, Thailand, on 27 February to 1 March.

The issues, named "hot potatoes" by the organisers, are:

  • The ASEAN Charter
  • ASEAN human rights body
  • Human rights in Burma and Rohingya refugees
  • Free trade agreements
  • Global economic slowdown
  • ASEAN's migrant labour

APF will be held from 20-22 February in the capital, followed by the summit, where the recommendations from the forum will be presented.
