In
May 2004, Juling Pongkunmul, an art teacher, was abducted and beaten
into coma in the Southern Thailand. By interviewing eyewitnesses,
friends and relatives of Juling and the suspects of the case, this
movie presents another approach to the complexity lying behind in the
issue.
"Above all this is a movie that 'listens' to the southern
people", said Manit Sriwanichpoom, one of the three who made this film,
in an interview with the Bangkok Post on 27 June 2009. "Most people
have not paid attention to what's happening, because we've grown
impotent to all the bad news about the South".
Another filmmaker
Kraisak Choonhavan said, "The South is an extreme case, but it's a
microcosm of what's happening everywhere in Thailand".
The movie has been screened until 9 September at the Cinema House RCA in Bangkok, Thailand.
