This forum was a gathering and platform for key human rights NGOs and defenders to share, learn and develop strategies for common action to advocate people’s solidarity, in order to promote and protect human rights in South Asia. The proceedings here record the discussions and issues of the forum, themed “Promoting People’s Solidarity for Democracy and Peace – Strengthening the Role of Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) in South Asia”. It also highlighted the historical importance of the people’s struggle for democracy in Nepal, and emphasised the need to further consolidate international solidarity among the people and human rights NGOs in South Asia and the rest of Asia.
