From Our Member Progressive Voice, Myanmad and KontraS, Indonesia – 2 Years of Resistance: Assessing Regional Responses in Addressing the Crisis in Myanmar
31 January 2023 10:28 am

“Under previous ASEAN leaderships, the crisis in Burma was not effectively addressed and the junta’s atrocities escalated. During the 2022 ASEAN Summit, leaders reaffirmed their commitment to peace in Burma and called for concrete, practical, and measurable steps with a specific timeline. Key to this process is engaging all stakeholders. A coalition of Burma, Indonesia, and regional civil society groups will host the seminar “2 Years of Resistance: Assessing Regional Responses” on January 28th, 2023, marking the two-year anniversary of the coup. The seminar will bring together speakers from Burma, Indonesia, and other ASEAN countries to update the situation in Burma and explore options for the regional community, especially Indonesia, to act towards a peaceful and democratic resolution.
