The Safety and Risk Mitigation Organization (SRMO)’s latest annual report, the State of Human Rights Defenders in Afghanistan 2021, is based on information gathered by the organisation during the 2021 from different sources including the human rights defenders (HRDs) and women human rights defenders (WHRDs) who directly came into contact with the organization or were referred to by other agencies.
The number of threats and attacks against the HRDs and WHRDs are under-reported in Afghanistan and it is because of lack of any reporting system or mechanism that can receive these reports systematically and register them. Since SRMO works with many local and grassroot HRDs and WHRDs across Afghanistan, they were able to gather this information.
SRMO hopes that we can provide more proactive support as well as working towards more systematic way of registering the cases of threats and attacks against HRDs and WHRDs in Afghanistan. Through your support, the organisation also hope they can improve our registration and reporting system.
