The Asian NGO Network on National Human Rights Institutions (ANNI) is organising the ‘ANNI Regional Conference 2019: Role of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) in the Context of Democratic Space and Fundamental Freedoms.’ This annual conference aims to discuss issues relevant to improving the work and functioning of NHRIs, as well as foster dialogue and partnership with relevant stakeholders.
The conference is held in parallel with the 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Asia Pacific Forum of NHRIs. At the AGM, ANNI representatives will have an opportunity to attend the NHRI-NGO Dialogue session to advocate the strengthening of Asian NHRIs to better promote and protect human rights, as well as to advocate for their improved compliance with international human rights standards.
