HRC36 Side Event: Supporting Indigenous and Environmental Civil Society

The panel aims to discuss their intersecting role in promoting and protecting the civic space for indigenous and land rights activists. The side event will equally focus on lessons learnt on how to ensure the effective realization of these commitments and identify strategies for effective multi-stakeholder participation to help more responsive mechanisms to end impunity for ongoing persecution and killing of indigenous and land rights activists. This event is co-organised by the Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA), Global Witness, International Service for Human Rights (ISHR), CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation and The Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders (OMCT).
