#FORUMASIA25: Celebrating the Indonesian Human Rights Movement
The video is dedicated to Munir Said Thalib, Co-Founder of Kontras and former Executive Director of Imparsial; Arif Rusli, former FORUM-ASIA Aceh Cordinator; Mohammad Farid, Founder of Yayasan Sekretariat Anak Merdeka Indonesia (SAMIN); and all the courageous people who fought for democracy and universal rights in Indonesia.
The public reception was held in Jakarta, Indonesia on 27 September 2016 by FORUM-ASIA together with its Indonesian members Imparsial, KontraS, Human Rights Working Group - HRWG Indonesia, PBHI Perhimpunan Bantuan Hukum dan Hak Asasi Manusia Indonesia, AJI Indonesia, YLBHI. Over 80 participants attended the anniversary event, including FORUM-ASIA members from Indonesia and beyond, representatives of various national and international civil society organisations, United Nations agencies, Embassies, and academic institutions.

On Tuesday 27 September 2016, the Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA), and its members Komisi untuk Orang Hilang dan Korban Tindak Kekerasan (KontraS), the Indonesian Human Rights Monitor (Imparsial), the Human Rights Working Group (HRWG), Yayasan Lembaga Bantuan Hukum Indonesia (YLBHI), Indonesia Legal Aid and Human Rights Association (PBHI), Sekretariat Anak Merdeka Indonesia (SAMIN) and Aliansi Jurnalis Independen (AJI) Indonesia hosted an anniversary reception for 25 years of FORUM-ASIA, ‘the Importance of Civic Space for Democracy’. The congratulation messages were recorded before, during and after the event.
