The Solidarity for Asian People’s Advocacy Task Force on ASEAN and Human Rights (SAPA- TFAHR) Annual Strategic Meeting 2014 was held on 21-22 April 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand, back to back with SAPA Working Group on ASEAN strategy meeting.

The event was organized by FORUM-ASIA and attended by 17 participants of SAPA TFAHR focal points and members across Southeast Asia. This annual meeting aims to discuss and plan SAPA TFAHR advocacy strategies for the ASEAN Human Rights Mechanism, namely the AICHR (ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights) and the ACWC (The ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and the Protection of the Rights of Women and Children).

This two days meeting focused on the review of AICHR’s performance from 2009 to 2014, proposing ideas on how to strengthen the work of AICHR as regional human rights body. In assessing the performance of the AICHR and the ACWC, one of the main issues discussed was the review of the AICHR TOR which will be due this year (2014).
