Every year, since its establishment, the ANNI organizes an NGO meeting parallel to the annual conference of the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (APF):

  • From 2007 to 2009, it co-organized the NGO meeting together with the International Service for Human Rights (ISHR)  and the international Women’s Rights Action Watch-Asia Pacific (IWRAW-AP).
  • In 2009, the APF made the decision to hold its annual conferences at a bi-annual basis, but would continue to hold its business meetings at an annual basis.
  • In 2010, during the APF business meeting in Bali, Indonesia, the ANNI organized its Conference on Emerging Issues on NHRIs, and invited representatives from the APF and Asian NHRIs to speak and hold dialogues with members of the ANNI.

This year, some 30 participants from ANNI member organizations as well as representatives from other civil society groups (CSOs), NHRIs, APF, ICC and UN OHCHR NIRMS Unit participated in the conference, held on 5-6 September 2011, in Bangkok.

The following are the statements prepared by ANNI during this conference:
