Course Description

The 8th training on “Making Governance Gender Responsive (MGGR)” held by the Centre for Asia Pacific Women in Politics (CAPWIP) Institute for Gender, Governance and Leadership (CIFFL) has recently been expanded from its original three-day length to eight days in order to include many case studies and field trips. The course is composed of modules developed to enhance the participants’ understanding of the link between gender and governance, as well as increase their awareness of gender biases in governance.

The training is intended for parliamentarians, middle and senior level government executives and officials, women and men in local governments, political parties, research and training institutes and civil society organisations and non-government organisations who are leading or participating in governance reform initiatives in their respective countries.

The objectives of the training include: enhancing participant understanding of Gender and Development (GAD) and governance concepts, gaining an appreciation of gender-related and governance issues and concerns, identifying gender biases in governance, acquiring skills in identifying and analyzing gender biases and concerns, and identifying gender biases in the participant’s sphere of influence.

Important Dates

Course Duration: 12-19 November, however participants are expected to arrive in Manila on 11 November, 2007 and leave 20 November, 2007.

Other information and Details

The registration fee for the eight-day training is US$1,950 for single room accommodations and US$1,650 for twin room sharing accommodations. The extra days that participants are expected to be in Manila are included in this fee.
