NCJP Expresses Deep Concern on the deteriorating Situation of Peace in Israel and Palestine

National Commission for Justice and Peace a Human Rights body of Pakistan Catholic Bishop’s Conference (NCJP) has expressed its deep concerns over the deteriorating situation of peace in the region of the Middle East, in which according to BBC NEWS, at least 200 people including 61 children and 36 women have lost their lives in Gaza and Israel. An atmosphere of fear and destruction is mounting on both sides of Israel and Palestine.

In a joint statement, His Excellency  bishop Samson Shukardin  Chairperson, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Yousaf (Mani) National Director and Mr. Naeem Yousaf Gill Executive Director stated, “it is unfortunate to witness such a destruction in Palestine and Israel.”  They called upon the International community to play its vital role regarding restoring peace in the Middle East. They also appealed all sides to end all violence and ease tensions. They urged all sides to protect civilians particularly children and avoid attacking civilian infrastructure.

“We call upon the both sides to exercise restraint as the impact of violence would be devastating. We would remind both sides to respect the international humanitarian laws and human rights”. They further added.
